Adventure Aide is a tourism and recreation app similar to AirBnB Experiences. The app allows users to book unique outdoor adventures, ranging from surf lessons to multi-day backpacking private tours by locals. The project was started in 2017.
Challenge
The client approached DevTeam.Space with the task of revamping their MVP, integrating new features, and preparing for the next phase of user base growth.
Solution
After conducting the code review and presenting our findings to the client, it was decided to refactor and rebuild the application architecture for both mobile apps and the backend. The technology stack was changed to use modern mobile and web frameworks, and two mobile apps for Adventurer and Aide were merged into a single app with a multi-role login. So that tour guides and tourists could download the same app. Our team refactored the backend code, significantly improving the app's performance. The design update allowed us to drastically improve the user flow.
Our development team worked on the application for over two years. During that time, Adventure Aide raised several millions of dollars in funding and grew its user base to 45,000 users in South California alone. After the product was fully developed, our team helped the client onboard in-house developers and transitioned the product to them, along with details and instructions on managing it.
