The Customer, a small design and development shop in Montana, approached us to develop an iOS and Android mobile application for a world-famous fitness training program that enhances the body and mind through 2.5 months of daily training.
Challenge
The customer tasked DevTeam.Space with creating a fault-tolerant application capable of handling millions of requests per hour and storing gigabytes of user-generated content. The application needed to enable users to follow a custom calendar schedule, receive scheduled notifications, use the phone's camera, track their progress, and more.
Solution
DevTeamSpace collaborated closely with the app design team to define the best user experience for tracking fitness and mental progress, which included a diet tracker and photo confirmation of the progress.
One of the app's key features is a system of scheduled reminders that prompt the user to confirm an action, such as working out or drinking water on time. These reminders are sent at customized timeslots several times a day, and if even one is missed, the whole challenge fails, requiring the user to restart from day one.
One of the biggest challenges was ensuring the app worked seamlessly on iOS and Android while maintaining the existing React Native codebase.
After the MVP was released to the stores, DevTeam.Space released several major enhancements, adding features like Instagram integration, publishing, motivational quotes, and paid options to continue with the next-step challenges after the previous one is successfully completed.
Results
Reaching #2 in the AppStore Health and Fitness Category and #14 overall, the app was downloaded over 500,000 times, garnering over 7k reviews on AppStore with an average rating of 4.7. Within two weeks of its public launch, the app acquired over 100,000 paying customers. After over a year of development and enhancements, the app was successfully transferred to the client's in-house team, which now supports it.
